With faithful regularity, this kindie band puts out a new album at least once (and sometimes twice) a year and they never fail to disappoint.
I am amazed at how truly talented these teachers from Seattle are to not only write and record new music annually, but to do so around a theme that successively seems to knock the socks off of the last one.
I’ve felt like I’m living in a circus (on more than one occasion) since last year’s release of In Tents; so as a mom who gets regular requests for this band I’ve been anxiously awaiting something new.
So far Deep Sea Diver is supplying me with fresh air while I’m swimming the seas of parenthood. Parents will enjoy the sophisticated humor and puns of life by the shore found on this album. While kids will love the familiar themes of childhood at the beach, like playing with a “Beach Ball” on the sand, watching a “Seagull” steal your lunch or imagining life on a “[Tambourine] Submarine.” (Check out the video at the end of the post.)
Let’s face it, no one but Recess Monkey can write about “Fish Sticks” in a way that keeps even parents coming back for more. This one is a must have for summer.
