Last weekend we traveled to a wedding in North Carolina. The details of the travel were a bit hairy and we had to change our incoming flight. But the new itinerary took us unexpectedly to Cleveland and all weekend long I encountered some Rock and Roll moments—
We played with the giant big Rock and Roll guitar while hanging out during our layover at the Cleveland Airport. Did you know Cleveland is the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I actually had a chance to visit on another trip, and its worth a visit.
I heard my boys listening to “I Got You” by James Brown (aka I Feel Good) with their Grandad. I’m not exactly sure why they were doing this (and I wish I had a picture of this one) but they were full of giggles. It reminded me of when we lived in Georgia and I got to attend the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards. Did you know James Brown was from Georgia? He got his big start with the Famous Flames out of Macon, GA—one of the many places I once lived.
During the wedding reception the DJ played “Drift Away” by Dobie Gray and my little boy stood up on the chair and shouted: “It’s Rock and Roll!”
Although not exactly a Rock and Roll moment, these little finds (iCreate Digital Crayon Stylus) saved us big time. We enacted an emergency policy on screen time: when your one and half our travel plans turns into six hours, play away!
They worked happily with both our phones—
And our Kindle.
We sang Ella Jenkins‘ together to pass the time while we waited to disembark the plane.
So, that’s a little bit about our adventuresome weekend last weekend. I’m thankful for those musical moments that brought joy to the little moments. This weekend we will be celebrating Mother’s Day at home (thankfully safe and sound).
Here’s a Free Mother’s Day Song Download from the Dirty Sock Funtime Band for your weekend of celebrating the Moms in your life, enjoy—
